Hey guys, I wanted to share my experience with Google compliance with Google CPM.
If you have a blog or a niche and want to comply with all rules and regulations of different style of consent, with Google AdSense. I have the best combination of settings to make this work.
After some tweaking around and trying to find the best possible way to get cookie consent to comply with EU and UK regulations and few outer countries included.
These are the countries included which can be run by GEO targeting with cookieYES, which also includes supports Google AdSense IAB TCF v2.2, over 800 vendors will show up on the screen.
Figure 1
supports GDPR (EU & UK) LGPD (Brazil) PIPEDA (Canada) Law 25 (Quebec) POPIA (South Africa) nFADP (Switzerland) Privacy Act (Australia) PDPL (Saudi Arabia) PDPL (Argentina) PDPL (Andorra) DPA (Faroe Island)
The cookie banner is great works as intended, you can also connect this with Google tags manager, but I find it easier just to use the internal JavaScript, I did run this cookie consent banner with external implement GCM will result in slightly slower website, since there were too many scripts running simultaneously.
There are 2 ways of running this on your website, I have tried both.
So I would recommend just using the JavaScript code provided by cookieYES and pasting that inside the header of your HTML page, instead of running this cookie consent JavaScript code through TAGS manager.
That's, unless you have all your tracking codes like, Google Analytics, Google Ads and everything set up on Google Tag Manager, then it is a no-brainer not to add this cookieYES consent JavaScript on there too. As you can fire, this code before anything else with its new features inside googles tag manager.
Also, USA state countries which require an opt-out banner, different type of regulation which is not GDPR cookie consent.
When it comes to the USA opt out banner, I decided to run this with Google AdSense itself, since it's just an opt-out banner which will either run targeted ads based on interest or based on content if the end user on your website opts out.
If you don't have Google AdSense, you can run this with GEO-targeting inside cookieYES.
The selected template (opt-out banner) that's included inside cookie YES, you can target these countries.

CCPA/CPRA (California) VCDPA (Virginia) CPA (Colorado) CTDPA (Connecticut) (Utah)
However, with Google AdSense US state regulations
You will be able to target all compliance countries automatically, and this will update in the future, meaning you won't have to do any extra work like selecting extra geotarget countries inside cookie-yes.
Plus, Google AdSense compliance tools, offers full complices of US state regulations.
These are the countries included inside Google AdSense for now, these may update in the near future, but, you won't have to do any work as your Google AdSense will handle everything that's needs to be done.

This is great news!
My recommendation for blogs or websites with ADS.
So, what do you need to do if you run a blog with Google Ads or other google ad partner?
- You will need pro version of cookieYES banner with geo targeting, which also supports IAB TCF v2.2.
- This will include compliance for all your vendors and also support AdSense CPM.
- Then you will need to make sure you select this IAB TCF v2.2 and turn it on.
- You will need to select GDPR consent only at the top, which will include all shown inside figure 1 compliance.
- Set up your banner, design, text can be edited as it needs to comply with IAB TCF v2.2, this has its own set of description and text which should not be edited to comply with all the regulations.
- You can run cookie tracker, which will find all cookies included on your website, and add all of these inside the cookie consent.
- CookieYES will also automatically place these into sub categories, making it easier when a visitor enters your website.
- Add the banner to your website using the JavaScript.
- Done.
Now Google Ads will only show when user complies with rules or regulations, I have had the same GDPR system since 2023 and this works great!
My recommendation for blog or websites without ADS.
If you have a website and don't have a blog, then consider yourself lucky, since you won't be using Google Ads you possibly won't be needed premium version of cookieYES.
Saying that, This can also be used if you own a blog but are working on it before you place any ads on it.
Why should you pay for premium banner with IAB TCF v2.2 support when you don't have any ads on your blog yet?
I hope you understand what I mean.
Also, If you're using WordPress you can simply download the cookieYES banner, install it, and you're done! Just few simple tweaks on how it looks, such as design, shape of pop-up box, location of the pop-up box and done.
If you don't use WordPress, you can set up your banner using CookieYES and copy and paste the JavaScript code between the head of your website.
Pretty much the same steps as above but without the IAB TCF v2.2 settings.
That's all!
My outcome and choice
- Using cookieYES for EU countries and UK with geo targeting (figure 1).
- Using Google AdSense US state regulations (figure 3), since if the visitors opt-out, ads will still be shown just not based on users' cookie based interest, so far I had 33 opt ins and all 33 consented to show ads, since it's powered by google, am sure these visitors inside US state regulations see this message all the time when surfing the net.
With this setup my Ads run smoothly and have done for last 2 years, complies with GDPR regulations, also complies with IAB TCF v2.2 and US state regulations, it also supports the Google CPM regulations!
So if you want to run a decent cookie consent on your website I highly recommend cookieYES, it does what it needs to, and it's highly editable and easy to optimize.
Also, do not try and run too many scripts at once. Your website will slow down! Just use the JavaScript provided by cookieYES, I don't recommend using this via Google tags, there's just too much going on, too many scripts, and it just slows down the website. This is based on my personal experience, I mean you can try this out and see how you perform.
Personally, I have tried over 10 different cookie consent platforms online, and cookieYES is the perfect choice for me, I have even got a premium account and went with PRO and had pro for over 2 years now.
VISIT: CookieYES and try it out! It's amazing and works great! I have the premium version of cookieYES.
