When it comes to SEO it can be a busy and tricky place, google algorithm is always changing and it can become a challenge for SEO agencies.
On the 3rd of December 2020 google has released its highest (hottest) update since 2016/2017, many webmasters have witnessed huge traffic spikes and some have seen huge traffic drops, not everyone was so lucky.
Example of a lucky website that ranked well after 3rd of December Google’s core update
Since the 3rd of December, the Traffic zoomed from 800/850 monthly users to 3500 and still growing.
Technicality and specs of the website? (Joomla CMS download database archive, 20 to 30 words per page, plenty of H2 tags, no keyword targeting, missing alt tags, does not pass all google page speed essentials, has targetted keywords per download with related links, no technical SEO, friendly URL’s, short SEO titles, simple meta descriptions, website loading around 1min, CLS 0.0, a new website with the age of 1 year)
Example of an unlucky website
The traffic before the 3rd of December was around 1500 users a day, after the 3rd of December the traffic surged downhill towards 1000 users per day.
Technicality and specs of the website? (WordPress CMS, Blog type of music-related niche, using advanced Yoast SEO, using Cloudflare Pro, using WP-Rocket for page improvements for google, Cumulative Layout Shift 0.0, Largest Contentful Paint 1.8sec, First Contentful Paint 1.2 sec, an old website with the age of 12 years)
Both websites have performed differently after the 3rd of December googles core update, this effect has taken on many webmasters, Google has totally changed the way google algorithm works, it’s not looking so much at how the webmaster has SEOed the pages anymore, but more on the technical side of things of the layout and website structure.
We can’t say for sure what or how certain websites trigger the algorithm but we will keep an eye on things and see how we can adapt a successful change in the SEO to awaken the success of growing traffic and take on few SEO experiments.
We will update this page soon as we get any-more info on our tests and website changes.
